summer reading list

{source:google images}
hey y'all. i made a summer reading list a few weeks ago. (ok, probably a month ago!) and i thought i'd share it with you. i realize that most of these are YAF, but i just can't help myself. i also realize that i need to start reading more mature material.

linger-maggie stiefvater
forever-maggie stiefvater

city of glass-cassandra clare

crossed-allie condie

the forest of hands and teeth-carrie ryan
the dead tossed waves-carrie ryan
the dark and hollow places-carrie ryan

water for elephants-sara gruen

book of hours-rilke

whats on your list? any recommendations?

  1. I want to read, water for elephants this summer too, I saw the movie first, so I'm looking forward to the book...I haven't read any in the city of glass series...have you??...are they any good??...right now I am reading the 17 day diet..woo hoo!...ha..actually it makes a lot of sense, I don't mind it...but Id also like to finish the women's murder club series this summer, book 9 and 10....

  2. Love this! I will have to check these out and add some to my list!

  3. I've read the first book of the City of Glass series and part of the second book, it was going really great until the end of book one for me...personally I feel like it took a turn for the worse, but there are tons of people who like/liked it so maybe it's just me!

I also have a tendency to lean towards the YAF...maybe we're still young at heart?! These all look great...I'll probably add a few to my list. Thanks for sharing!

P.S. I'm reading water for elephants now and so far it's good...haven't seen the movie yet but would recommend the book!

  4. I gravitate to YAF too! I'd recommend "A Long Way From Chicago" followed by "A Year Down Yonder," both by Richard Peck and also "Pictures of Hollis Woods" by Patricia Reilly Giff.
I've been trying to read a little more adult novels too and like Emily Giffin books for a little drama, but my all time favorite book is "Give Us This Day" by Sidney Stewart. It's a nonfiction story about the battle of Batton. Usually I'm not into stories of war, but it's very moving. Happy reading!

  5. OOohh I love a good book list. I am looking all of these up and adding them to my library list.

  6. This is my list..made several months ago....still haven't read the first one yet:

    Water for Elephants
    Sarah's Key
    Half Broke Horses
    Last Castle
    Fall of Angels
    The Help
